SHONKY
[Spectral/Culprit]
Biografy of Shonky
Being into club music since his tender age, Shonky graced the decks of a club for the first time in 1998 inspired by djs like Dan Ghenacia, Ivan Smagghe among others as a time when serious Parisian clubbers revolved around the Kwality parties at the Batofar.
Since then hes been regular in key Parisian clubs like La Scene, Le Rex ou Le Nouveau Casino. Hes got nowadays a monthly residency Zip at La Fleche dOr with Terry and Dyed Soundorom. His international pedigree includes Deep in Madrid, City Hall in Barcelona, a Mental Groove party in Geneva etc…
Shonky released his first production through FreaK n Chic in 2005, Let Me Ask U a tongue-in-cheek non sense clicky song about a lost soulmate (or maybe not) and his new production work are ready to be released in Sept 2006 through Sub Static and Resopal RED.
Shonky is also developing a production partnership with Jennifer Cardini including remixes for Mobilee, Crosstown Rebels and Microfon. They have just finished their first original co-production for Mobilee.

MATT TOLFREY
[Leftroom]
Biography of Matt Tolfrey
Growing up in the Middle East it wasn’t until he returned home that his career started in Nottingham with residencies at the historic club the Bomb and more recently at Stealth. Here in the heart of the city’s club culture is where he continues to hold a residency. This quickly led to regular slots at Fabric and further afield in the USA and Germany.
Always keen to experiment with new ideas and take risks he started the Leftroom label in 2005 with his own productions beginning to see releases on reputable labels such as Crosstown Rebels and Skint. Tolfrey sought after an avenue to release his peer’s music and open up opportunities for friends that he believed in.
The first release was entitled ‘The Extended Family EP’ encapsulating the spirit of Leftroom, a place where a core set of artists could grow and experiment with their sound. The Leftroom family now consists of a few key artists now including MarcAshken, Inxec, Eric Johnston and Glimpse.
After remarkable success with the first few releases and securing a homegrown and exceptional roster Tolfrey was asked to commence a label night at T Bar, London’s hub of creativity in the house and techno scene. Hosting nights alongside those of Andrew Weatherall, Ivan Smagghe and Craig Richards allowed Tolfrey to invite and play with friends and muses while sharing memorable dancefloor moments.
As his plan to achieve global domination took firm root, two more sub-labels were born into the family. Leftroom Limited has the purpose of releasing peak-time records while Leftout is a home for lesser-known artists who deserve some attention. He also runs Is This label and has proved his A&R capabilities are pin-point securing one of 2007’s biggest tracks, Ito & Star’s ‘Suduko Kid’ and one of 2008’s biggest crossover tracks, Rocha and Lewinger’s ‘Down Seq’.
Alongside propelling three labels Tolfrey also DJs globally with notable gigs for Sunday School for Degenerates in Miami, regular dates at Fabric, Mulletover in Ibiza and Panorama Bar and Watergate in Berlin amongst many. His productions and remixes have been released on Cocoon Recordings, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical and Saved and he has collaborated with MarcAshken, Inxec, Glimpse, Eric Johnston and Delete.
So how did he come so far so quickly? The answer is simple. Matt is a workaholic with a seemingly tireless dedication to forging his own unique style and bringing life to the scene around him. Drawing on everything from deep house and techno, through to stripped down beats, he's spawned his own hybrid strain of electronic funk. Anyone lucky enough to have already witnessed Matt in action will know that his particular brand of wobbly house and techno has the power to win hearts and destroy minds on the dance floor.

LE LOUP
[Wolf+Lamb]
Leonard Perret aka Le Loup may still only be in his early 20s but there is plenty to prove he’s a frontrunner in the current crop of young Parisian talent currently sweeping the globe. With his warm, funk inspired, groove-led productions with shades of Detroit techno and jazz plus his love of hip-hop and years exploring all facets of house music during his degree in sound engineering, it’s no surprise he was a natural fit for Wolf + Lamb, releasing his first record on the imprint age 21.
The ‘See Line’ EP quickly became a massive success for the young artist, paving the way for a number of exciting projects and collaborations, namely his union of musical forces on a couple of tracks with the unstoppable Soul Clap (Le Clap) and the launch of a new label Hold Youth with close friend Seuil. Hold Youth will be an ‘open-minded’ vinyl only label dedicated to putting out a wide range of music encompassing disco, house, techno, hip-hop, dubstep and anything in between. Upcoming label parties will no doubt shed more light on what’s in store.
Le Loup is certainly not a single-minded artist and this is further displayed in his additional projects as Childhood 87 or his collaboration with Clement Meyer to become part of Get The Curse Music. As Le Loup he has delivered productions or remixes from various label heavyweights including Life and death, Air Drop or Esperanza with a forthcoming EP soon to drop on Eklo. His soul-melting yet playful house sound has garnered support along the way from Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, Matthew Dear and Jay Haze among others.
As an increasingly prolific DJ, Le Loup has rocked parties around the globe, snapped up by major underground institutions such as The Wolf + Lamb Marcy Hotel, Dimuschi in Paris, Club De Visionaere in Berlin, DC10 in Ibiza, Louche in Leeds and Half baked in London where he now a resident. As the creative young talent continues to spread his wings, you get the feeling the best is yet to come.

S 24|09|11 GLOSS CLUB® feat. SOLOMUN [Diynamic] [at] DIVINA
SOLOMUN
[Diynamic Music|Compost|2DIY4]
SOLOMUN
(Diynamic Music)
The word “industrious” is oft overused when it comes to describing artists in dance music and even when correctly used it’s rarely a sign of artistic quality.
When it comes to Solomun however, it’s bang on the mark and has no negative implications for artistic quality.
The Hamburg-based, Bosnian-born Croatian has played a
major role in redefining European house music in recent years via productions, remixes and DJing which take the very building blocks of house and deftly reconstruct them with
a decidedly modern twist.
This contribution to house is partly drawn from a hefty touring schedule gracing the worlds finest clubs alongside an impeccable string of tracks and remixes for the likes of
Buzzin Fly, Freerange, Get Physical, Phil E, Mobilee, Dessous, Compost, Four:Twenty and his own Diynamic imprint but it doesn’t stop there….
Having started Diynamic just five years ago alongside long-term friend Adriano Trolio, Solomun has set about developing and nurturing his outlets for music as much as the
music itself.
Now, Diynamic enjoys the sort of reverence usually reserved for labels three times its age and has been instrumental in allowing some of the new talents in electronic music to shine.
Stimming, HOSH, Ost & Kjex, Uner and Solomun himself are just a
handful of the artists who have benefitted from their output being wrapped in the label’s distinctive sleeves and the Diynamic appeal shows no sign of waning.
Despite a hugely hands on ad attentive role in developing Diynamic and it’s roster, Solomun has also added the roles of Promoter, Radio Host and Club Owner to his list of job titles and each of these endeavours has seen him succeed and create a formidable
reputation for himself.
A weekly radio show syndicated to Ibiza Global Radio, Proton and Russia’s Radiotakt provides yet another platform for some Solomun passion, and his newly acquired Ego
Club in Hamburg has been the logical step on from creating some of the best parties in the notoriously competitive club scene in the city. These extensions of his own recording
and DJ career certainly show complete dedication to his DIY cause and the music that fuelled its necessity but the formula for the success of each of these extra-curricular activities can be attributed purely to talent.
This talent is pretty unquestionable, too. From the army of high profile fans like Steve Bug, Loco Dice and Ricardo Villalobos through to the critically acclaimed 2009 debut LP, “Dance Baby”, which saw the likes of Mixmag, Electronic Beats and even itunes list in their top albums of the year, the responses to Solomun material are unusually unanimous.
If the industry and press mean nothing, then just look to the dancefloors of Watergate, Warung Beach Club, Studio80, D-Edge or Ego where Solomun keeps countless clubbers enraptured with his sounds at Diynamic residencies on a regular basis.
Despite an intimidating amount of roles to balance, Solomun does so much in the same way as he manages the plethora of influences on his music, with a deft touch, a smile on his face and real honest commitment to “doing it yourself”.

BILL PATRICK
[VIsionquest BERLIN]
In America, specifically NYC, Bill Patrick is a man of many accolades... Since his days as a DJ in legendary clubs such as The Limelight, Vinyl & Arc, he has charmed our hearts and moved our bodies. Not to mention being co-founder of the famed Robots parties and amusing us weekly as Robot Radio's alluring and witty host. Within the world of electronic music everyone has a tale about our friend Bill Patrick. Some funny, some sad, some tragic, most shady, but at the end of each story or any encounter with this demi god your left wanting more.
In 2008, this mythical creature, who by chance was reborn a man, relocated to Berlin. Why? Few know. Some say it was in search of gold, some suggest it was out of self loathing, those in his inner circle say it was to be closer to them. He says it was to challenge the European state of mind and how sexually active they, as a people, can become. In any event all legend and lore were left behind. So where has that left this man, this nu-romantic? I'll tell you, striving to be more. It doesn't matter that the only place he now plays are mega festivals like Sunwaves in Romania, or super clubs like DC10, Fabric, Cocoon and Kristal club, for those in the know. He wants to step out of his box and come to you, to educate the minds of the world with his deep, psychedelic take on contemporary dance music. With the help of his unwavering comrades; Lee Burridge, Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves, he is destined to thrive!

Zona Isola
MILANO

DIRTY CHANNELS
[Reincarnation/Rebirth]
www.dirtychannels.net
www.residentadvisor.net/dj/dirtychannels
The Dirty Channels project consisting of Simone Giudici and Dj Leme. Both shared the same musical affection for Chicago House and Detroit Deep & Techno stuff, so they decided to set up a recording studio to work on own productions, fusing state of the art electronic music with old school elements.
In early 2009 they contributed a remix to the single “Mind Clip“ of DJ Rame (member of the famous Pasta Boys) which was released on MANOCALDA Records. The feedback was amazing so they followed with their own release on Manocalda soon: "ES CODOLAR EP" featured a remix by the eclectic Alex Attias (from Compost, Planet-E). Their first tracks were supported by lots of international artists like Loco Dice, Louie Vega, Anja Schneider, Pezzner, Franck Roger, Thomas Schumacher, Trickski and many more.
Dirty Channels release their second single on the Frankfurt label BigCityBeats Tec (BCBtec): "DON'T UNDERSTAND“ features a huge remix by Salvatore Freda (Cadenza, Remote Area). Then Dirty Channels work on “AFRICAN DEMOCRAZY EP“ for REINCARNATION Records, favored and charted by Shinedoe, Deetron, Sascha Dive, Argy and more.
They are also very active as remixers for renowned artists and singers! Their big remix of FREAKS vs ROBERT OWENS on REBIRTH Records has been included into the “Traxsource Deep Essential 10”, and the remix for BARBARA TUCKER & INAYA DAY on REVOX has been recently played into the “Defected In The House Radioshow”!

MEMORYMAN aka Uovo
c/o VANILLA night club piazza della repubblica
MILANO
Finalmente "Oh..cristo!" a Milano.

JAMIE JONES
[Hot Creations/CrosstownRebels/
www.residentadvisor.net/dj
London native Jamie Jones began DJing at the age of 16, with influences ranging from deep house to Detroit techno.
He has releases on Crosstown Rebels, Freak N Chic, Poker Flat, Cocoon Recordings and Get Physical.
Jamie Jones came from a small village in the green hills of Wales.
He ran away to East London, and slowly rose through the underground party scene, first as a connected clubber, and then as a DJ and producer. He played regularly at London’s Fabric, and became friends with London DJs Damian Lazarus and Clive Henry.
His first music landed on Dan Ghenacia’s Freak N Chic label, and then Leftroom Records, Tsuba, and Hypercolour.
For years Jones has remained on the cusp of the mainstream but, with several releases on the most important labels, Jamie might just break through.
“I don’t really aspire to be a big superstar or play at big clubs, for me to be able to make music that I love that touches people is enough,” he sayed.
Last year he founded HOT CREATIONS, his own label alongside with Lee Foss.
They've also got a duo disco project called Hot Natured.
He's current ranking at n.6 of the Resident Advisor dj chart 2010 confirmed that he usually burns his dancefloor.
His set is not to be missed!

ILARIO ALICANTE
[Cocoon]

JOZIF
[compost/vitalic/wolf+lamb
A name that’s been gaining increasing attention from the who’s who of the underground electronic music community lately is London based DJ and producer jozif. The born and bred artist, who has worked his way to where he is today with his typical (to anyone that knows him) ‘jozif swagger’ – passionate, determined and wildly talent driven - has been charming the pants off the UK and Europe with his productions and DJ sets alike in recent years.
With an infectious and underlying groove to his rhythms - jozif has a unique presence in and out of the booth, encapsulating his floor and coaxing them alongside his ever changing musical explorations. Craig Richards, Ben Watt, Matt Tolfrey, Andrew Weatherall, Paul Woolford and Ashley Beadle alongside London’s fabric, lo*kee and Ibiza’s We Love...Space have all fallen hook line and sinker for jozif’s quirky and impossible to pigeon hole beats. Loose and lazy drum patterns, dramatic strings and brass tinged with slo-mo ambience and a rolling undercurrent of funk depict a soundtrack all of his own that resonates with our musical heart strings whilst evoking the dirtiest bump and grit of a twisted 6am dance floor.
2010 was a solid year all round with releases on Wolf + Lamb, Vitalik and Fist or Finger gaining mass support alongside features on the Balance 016 compilation and an end of year RA podcast. Mixed entirely of his own edits, it’s unique edge garnered such support from industry and public alike that it goes down as one of the most talked about RA podcasts to date and set the scene for a highly anticipated 2011. 2010 also saw the launch of Fist or Finger; jozif’s limited edition vinyl only label with fabric musical director and long time buddy Craig Richards featuring jozif's dance floor A side’s and Craig's experimental reinterpretations on the flip.
The first release 'Beats In Space' was an instant sell out and the imminently released 'Brick Jane' and 'Room 3' look set to be just as in demand.
Kick starting 2011 with his ‘Sunrise’ EP on InFine – a plethora of influences span the four track ep which has gathered rave reviews all round. With upcoming remixes and releases on My Favourite Robot, Compost, No.19, Future Classic, Mobilee and Fist or Finger coupled with a packed international gig schedule - we can safely say the future is looking mighty bright for jozif. An artist who himself refuses to define or describe his sound and rightly so...the music plays testament to the fact that it is there to be heard and
felt...not labelled.

Margaret's bio:
In the late eighties the music she was surrounded by and adhered to was old school hip hop; there were house parties every weekend and lots of chillin’ in the backyard. Her discovery of house music started in New York in the early nineties when she moved to study fashion at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology. Before long her college friends had introduced her to the whirlwind underground club scene; the flamboyant gay clubs where vogueing was all the rage, dressed up club kids, intimate basement techno nights, jungle gatherings and scores of insane house parties.
Captivated by the British dance scene, she moved to London in the summer of 99. Her first job was on the door of Home, her day job was as a make up artist and she began to play out at parties and warming up in clubs.
Then Margaret has been a regular feature on London’s electronic scene playing at clubs such as Fabric, The End, The Key and Herbal. She is a resident at label night Underline and has been supporting growing underground parties such as Multi Vitamins , Run, Minimallondon.com events, Stink at the T Bar as well as Technique in Leeds. Her music has been well-received in Berlin where she is fast becoming a friendly face at clubs like The Panorama Bar, The Arena, Club Der Visionare, Watergate, Kino International and House13. Last summer she was part of Cross Town Rebels mini tour around Europe playing at Electrosplash in Valencia, Watergate/Berlin and Space in Ibiza.
Over the years her DJ travels have taken her to countries such as Holland, France, Finland, Singapore, China and eastern Europe for growing club scene of Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia and Serbia’s vibrant Exit festival.

SHAUN REEVES [Berlin, DE]
(visionquest, crosstown rebels, wolf + lamb)
Shaun Reeves is an enigmatic pioneer who’s trailblazing quest to export his unique brand of cosmic underground house and techno from his hometown of Detroit to Europe and beyond has brought him international acclaim. Alongside best friends Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Seth Troxler he has helped put a warm, esoteric spin on the city’s musical heritage taking it away from clinical minimalism, back towards warmer, more spiritual party music. Together they have formed Visionquest, a genre-busting four-piece DJ combo, live act, record label and forward-thinking school of thought.
Shaun grew up putting on parties in and around Detroit, starting off in small bars and attic spaces, booking the likes of Magda, Dan Bell and John Tejada to play for him. During this time he started drawing deep inspiration from the early Perlon records and listening to sets from its label boss Zip, in 2004 Shaun decided to make the bold move to Berlin closer to the source of this sound. Since his move to Berlin, Shaun Reeves has been enthralling audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with his own highly distinctive mixture of American house, both classic and contemporary, and the deepest, most cutting edge aspects of post-minimal techno and tech-house. In addition to playing in Berlin's celebrated Panorama Bar, Watergate, the legendary Beatstreet loft parties and holding his ‘Soul Shower’ summer residency at Club Der Visionaere, he has appeared at DC10 (Ibiza), Fabric (London), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Cityfox (Zurich), Sankeys (Manchester) and played for Wolf+Lamb at The Marcy Hotel (NYC).
The last few years have seen Shaun blossom in the studio, both on his own for New York’s Wolf+Lamb, as ‘The Royal We’ with Seth Troxler for Crosstown Rebels, alongside Guti and Miss Fitz for Wolf+Lamb and Raum…musik and most recently as Visionquest remixing Tracey Thorn (for Strange Feeling), doP & Seuil (for Eklo) and Paul Ritch & D’Julz (for Quartz Music).
When he’s not conjuring up bombs in the studio or trawling through record shops and the farthest reaches of the internet in search of forgotten gems and untapped jams, that sound decidedly fresh and exciting, Shaun remains committed to pushing all genres of dance music forward. His is music not just for the dance floor, but also for the body, soul…and brain. As the recent resurgence of interest in the border between house and techno makes all too clear, Shaun has always been one to set musical trends rather than follow them.

27|11|2010 GLOSS CLUB® FEAT DANA RUH
DANA RUH [Berlin, DE)]
(Barraca Music, OSgut Ton, Cocoon)
Born in Gera, Germany, Dana has always had a part to play in music.
After engaging herself in several kinds of music which included: singing in choir, playing guitar and doing background vocals in a local rock band called "Hidden Timbre" she was later to be infected by electronic music. With the electronic music fever in her blood, she went ahead in 1994 and bought her first technical equipment, a mixer and 2 turntables. Since then she has intensively worked to make 'it' happen. Despite her urge for new sounds, she attended university to study Economics, something she had committed herself to do, a "had to do" as she describes it. Mixing music at this point was merely just a hobby but Dana always had the intention and desire to perfect the art. After attaining her diploma from university she settled for a job as a stocks trader. Frustrated by figures and calculators she abandoned this white-collar role and headed on a one way ticket to Berlin with the goal to get more involved in her electronic music career and also to have a new city, new impressions, new crowd and more inspiration! Alongside with this sudden change of environment, she evolved her musical style from house to techno. After ups & downs, playing in private parties, she now enjoys entertaining people with her well organised impressive DJ sets both on a national and international level alongside running her own record label, Brouqade Records.
Whilst she was involved in production during earlier times in her career she is now currently producing with much more musical understanding and her current productions are the conclusion of her special sense of what is most important, the music. With successes on Barraca Music, Brouqade Records, Einmaleins Musik, Perspectiv already released Dana is looking forwards to further releases on Ostgut Ton (alongside Andre Galluzzi) and of course more activity with her own label Brouqade and her home label ...Barraca Music.

GLOSS CLUB - NEW SEASON OPENING 11.09.10
Art Department is the brainchild of Canadian techno/house Legend Kenny Glasgow and Canada’s fastest rising star and No.19 label owner - Jonny White. As individuals both Kenny and Jonny have released countless critically acclaimed records and are regarded internationally... as two of the most forward thinking, relevant underground producers out of North America. Kenny’s credentials date back to the late 80’s and include productions on Narcotic, Jinxx, his own Method 11/11 label and Turbo. Whilst White’s revered No.19 Music label along side a blindingly fast - growing discography have seen him rapidly rise to the forefront of the international scene. The pair, despite being close friends and stalwarts in the Toronto electronic music scene for years, had not joined forces in the studio until only as recently as 2009, when Damian Lazarus called on them to remix Riz MC for his prestigious Crosstown Rebels Label. The result was an entirely new sound that drew cues from the best of both artists. It was a futuristic and raw, synth-driven, underground masterpiece, the start of a new idea and the birth of Art Department… Before long the two were working full time in the studio to expand upon what they had created but now with a new focus… the concept for Art Department was to create a live dj/vocal performance based on the new sound they were beginning to produce and would feature Kenny Glasgow’s unique and sublime vocals that had been heard only 10+ years earlier on records like “Pressing On”. It wasn’t long before Damian heard what the pair had been working on and immediately offered them a deal with Crosstown Rebels that would include several singles, remixes and a full length album due out at the beginning of 2011. The momentum continued and Art Department performed their first ever live show at the Crosstown Rebels Get Lost event at the 2010 WMC in front of a jam packed room, along side an A list cast of 17 artists from the label. DJ’s, promoters and party animals regarded the performance as one of the most ground-breaking & important shows at this years WMC…Simple label boss - Will Saul was quoted saying “the live show was the best thing we’ve heard since we heard Mathew Johnson for the first time…”. The follow up performance came the very next night at Jamie Jones & Lee Foss’ Hot Natured party where Art Department treated the enthusiastic crowd to a mind-bending dj set and secured their spot as residents for the much lauded Hot Natured brand. With massive support from the rebel crew along with an exciting release schedule including collaborations with Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and Soul Clap there is no doubt that this will be yet another inspired chapter in the story of these Canadian talents.
